QR-Generator

A QR code generator for links, text, WiFi, vCards, SMS, locations and events, with custom colours, PNG, SVG or PDF export and offline support.

QR-Gen makes QR codes for almost anything you need to get from paper onto a phone: a link, a WiFi network, a business card, a location or a calendar event. Everything happens in the browser, with no account and no server.

Code types

  • Links, with shortcuts for Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn
  • Plain text, email, phone and SMS, with numbers formatted properly through libphonenumber
  • WiFi networks: whoever scans it joins without typing the password
  • vCards, a business card that saves straight into contacts
  • Events with full details, ready to add to a calendar

Locations

  • The spot is picked on an interactive map, by address search or from the device GPS
  • The marker can be dragged for an exact position, and the full address shows under the map

Look and export

  • Any colour for the code and the background, including a transparent background
  • PNG export for screens, SVG for print at any size, and PDF
  • Direct sharing through the phone's share sheet

Offline

It is a PWA: it installs on a phone or desktop and, after the first load, makes codes without internet, through a Workbox service worker

Tech stack: React, TypeScript, Material UI, Framer Motion, Pigeon Maps, qrcode.react, jsPDF, Workbox, Vite. The code is open source on GitHub.
